In this age of reinvention, middle class apologist, Oprah-worshipping self-help addict and the Guardian’s Poldark ‘chestwatch’ correspondent, Groskop shares her attempts to be the best possible version of herself. After reading self-help books since the age of 9, she asks why self- improvement is so hard and if there should come a time when you just give up and accept you are not that great a human being.
Groskop is a fervent enemy of the avocado, a Big Hair Owner (TM), Strictly Come Dancing superfan, a laissez-faire parent of three children aged between seven and 14 and lives in London. Her book,I Laughed, I Cried: How One Woman Took On Stand-Up and (Almost) Ruined Her Life reached no. 1 on the Amazon Comedy bestseller chart and was one of the Independent’s comedy books of the year.
Groskop is a comedian, writer, TV critic and resident agony aunt for Dear Viv at The Pool. A fluent Russian speaker, she is also a columnist on The New European and comment writer for theGuardian.
