We have been wowed by all of the events so far at Guildford Fringe Festival but one that has certainly stood out is Nell Gwynn’s History Laid Bare which was performed by Award-winning Burlesque Performer Ginger Blush.

Ginger Blush burst on to the burlesque scene as winner of Best UK Newcomer 2010 delighting audiences with her tongue-in-cheek tease.  Praised for giving classic burlesque a contemporary comic twist, Ginger Blush brings lashings of humour, serious sex appeal and a side of slapstick to her award-winning performances.

The show was a perfect balance of comedy, theatre, story telling and, of course, burlesque. As with a lot of Fringe events you take a risk when booking something that, perhaps, isn’t a well known piece but those of us that took this risk were rewarded over and over.

Ginger Blush clearly is a accomplished performer and really knows how to engage an audience.

“The most important thing in theatre is to tell a story and I can honestly say this was done perfectly by Ginger” say Nick Wyschna, director of Guildford Fringe Festival. “I am from a performing background myself and I know form experience small venues are the hardest to play because you are literally on top of the audience (well not literally!). The performance of Nell Gwynn’s History Laid Bare was brave, entertaining and it made me admire Ginger tremendously, I really hope she comes back to perform for us all again”.
