Award-winning comedian Louise Reay returns to the Fringe with a brand new show featuring a life size Zoltar fortune telling machine – yes, like in the Tom Hanks movie ‘Big’! It’s based on a true story from her life where a Zoltar’s prediction came true, and features video footage filmed over the past four years.
It’s also all in Chinese – but for people who don’t speak any Chinese at all. Following the success of last year’s debut – an experiment in non-verbal communication based on the idea only 7% of communication is verbal, this show takes the concept one-step further by telling a long-form narrative.
The show is sponsored by the Chinese government, via the Confucius Institute at University of Edinburgh.
‘Like the teletubbies doing standup…fascinating’
Steve Bennett, Chortle
After a BA in Modern and Classical Chinese, Louise started to study clowning with Doctor Brown in 2014. She took her first clown show ‘It’s Only Words’ to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015. It received 4* reviews and was in the Amused Moose shortlist for best show (top 15 shows of the Edinburgh Fringe 2015). Described by The Scotsman as ‘one of the most insanely high-concept undertakings at the festival’, the show received full sponsorship from the Confucius Institute. Meanwhile Louise won Alternative Comedian of the Year 2015, was a finalist in the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year competition 2015 and was nominated for the Brighton Fringe International Touring prize in May 2016.
‘Truly fantastic…really charming, see it!’
Al Murray
