Join local musician Majella Yorston for a relaxed ‘Song or Two’ on 30th July at The Keep Pub, Guildford.
The perfect way to spend a summery Sunday evening the intimate gig will celebrate Majella’s 5 years of involvement with Guildford Fringe and will be a fitting finale to the 2017 Fringe Festival.
With material ranging from folk to rock n’roll there’ll be plenty of tunes to hum along to plus some lesser-known gems to enjoy. With her velvety voice, engaging performance style and trademark guitar this it’ll be an evening to remember.
Hard to categorise Majella describes her style as an “eclectic mix of country, folk and ballads” and says people are often taken aback by the deep rich tones of her voice.
“I can sing much deeper than people expect so I have a tendency to surprise people,” she laughs.
“This means I can sing a wide range of styles either with backing or just me with my guitar. I don’t really like to be pigeon-holed so I always promise people a varied programme.”
A singer, musician and actor, who originally trained in musical theatre, Majella has performed in a wide range of settings including theatre, radio, TV, studio based recording sessions, touring companies and cabaret. She has also toured the UK and Europe as a vocalist and musician.
As a Guildford resident, and an artistic one at that, Majella was delighted when Guildford Fringe was established in 2012 and was pleased to join the small group of performers who took part that first year.
“I’ve been involved with the Festival since it started in 2012” said Majella. “It’s gone from strength to strength and it’s been great to watch it grow and develop. It provides a platform for a wide range of talent and brings something special to our town”
Majella is looking forward to closing the Festival with her one off gig adding:
“It’ll just be me, my guitar and lots of great songs – I can’t wait!”
