THE SUMMER months may feel far off during this rather cold, damp January – but fear not; Guildford Fringe couldn’t wait to let you know they’re already busy making plans for their biggest ever Guildford Fringe Festival which will run from June 29 to July 29 this year.

What’s more, one of the Festival events is already on sale NOW! – and you really wouldn’t want to miss this…

On Wednesday, July 25 at 7:30pm none other than Gyles Brandreth will dazzle the Fringe audience with his one-man show, Break A Leg! in one of the Festival’s new 2018 performance venues, the Guildhall on Guildford High Street.

They say all political careers end in tears. In Gyles Brandreth’s case, it’s tears of laughter as the actor, author, One Show reporter, former MP and government whip makes his Guildford Fringe Festival debut with his new one-man show Break A Leg! – a celebration of all things theatrical.

This is Brandreth unleashed on the stars he’s known and the theatre stories that have made him laugh – and, occasionally, cry. Without hesitation or repetition (and just a touch of deviation), Just a Minute regular Gyles will deliver an evening of wit, wisdom, high drama, low comedy and hilarious name-dropping.

Gyles said: “I’m excited to be making my Guildford Fringe debut with a brand new one man show.  It’s a brilliant venue (with an amazing heritage) at the heart of one of my favourite towns and I’m honoured to be part of this year’s fantastic Fringe line-up. I’ve appeared in panto in Guildford – and in Shakespeare – both at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. But this will be my stand-up Guildford debut and my Guildford Fringe first.  I’m excited. Bring it on!”

Established in 2013, Guildford Fringe Festival is an open access, multi-arts festival which runs every July and you can expect theatre, comedy, poetry, music, visual arts, children’s shows, workshops, talks and lots of free events too!

Each year, it’s got bigger; it’s got better; and more of you have come along to enjoy it, with over 8,000 audience members, 125 events and 12 venues in 2017.

For the performers amongst you, applications are still open to be a part of Guildford Fringe Festival 2018 so you haven’t missed the boat just yet! The deadline to enter is 18 March 2018: just email to request an application form on.
