Amanda Waring became a West End Star at the age of 19 having been chosen from 6000 girls by Alan Jay Lerner to play the title role of Gigi in his hit musical.
Acting is in her blood. Her parents were famous actors, the late great actress Dame Dorothy Tutin and television star Derek Waring. Her brother Nick Waring is also an actor.
Amanda is delighted to be asked back to Guilford Fringe with her acclaimed inspirational and hilarious ‘one woman’ smash hit show A GLASS HALF FULL. This show has had sold out performances and five star reviews at Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals and in London
After the standing ovation she received for her previous one woman show For the love of chocolate at The Star Inn last year, where Amanda unforgettably covered herself in melted chocolate… come and relish Amanda’s unique warmth and humour this year and things may get a little messy once more!
Guildford holds many acting memories for her. She watched her mother perform in Macbeth opposite Paul Daneman and her father play in The Boyfriend opposite Glynis Johns. Amanda herself has starred in Guildford in the plays Getting Married and An Ideal Husband alongside her mother. She also performed in her acclaimed self-penned and directed revues The Gift Of Christmas, The Twentieth Century Revue And Summoned By Betjeman, alongside Robert Powell and Virginia McKenna and her sellout shows of her one woman show For The Love of Chocolate.
Amanda wrote A Glass Half full as a positive response to getting older and to celebrate her birthday with the audience. The show is an inspirational comedy revue Amanda explores through anecdote, music, stand up and cake how we may all lead a more fulfilling life. ! She says “instead of living each day as if it were your last, which personally would have me running around like a headless chicken thinking I am going to die, why not live each day as if it were your birthday and celebrate everything whilst you can”
Come and join Amanda for her show which is part masterclass, part experiment, part audience participatory and part..part with your money ………!
“Amanda gives a powerhouse performance masterclass that leaves the audience enthralled and hanging on her every word. I would defy the most hardened festival goer not to be rolling in the aisles but the end!Her writing rivals that of Victoria Wood with a sublime singing voice….five stars …” Remote Goat
“Amanda looks a the meaning of life in trademark fashion- typically bonkers and cryingly funny. A must see show.” Spirit fm
