Guildford Arts’ annual summer exhibition Yvonne Arnaud Art is celebrating its coming of age, 21 years of artistic excellence, from 6 – 21 July at the Mill Studio, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford
There is a superb array of work by exceptionally talented artists of local, national and international repute. By popular request “Meet the Artists Saturdays”, introduced last year, returns, and visitors will be able to chat to and watch an artist at work. There will be the customary quiz for youngsters and drawing materials for them to use.
The exhibition is part of Guildford Summer Festival and Guildford Fringe Festival.
The work on show encompasses contemporary and more traditional styles, and represents many different mediums and techniques, from oils to watercolours, etchings to linocuts and ceramics to welded metal.
Many of the artists have won awards and had work shown in prestigious exhibitions across the UK and overseas, such as the BP Portraits Award, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Landscape Photographer of the Year and the Pastel Society.
The artworks include Jan Hunter’s serene atmospheric interiors, Peter Quinn’s delightful images of the faded splendour of Venice, Andrew Blyth’s light filled watercolours capturing the fleeting light and cloud of a summer day, Nathalie Beauvillain Scott with her stunning lifelike portraits, Margaretha Shepherds’ colourful mixed media still lifes, and Lizzie Shepherd’s ethereal landscape photography highlighting unexpected viewpoints within the landscape.
The three dimensional work covers figurative and abstract sculpture from Daren Greenhow and Gilbert Whyman, ceramics from Sarah Choi with a quirky take on cityscapes, and Rachel Wood’s textured vessels.
Admission is free and all works are for sale. We encourage you to bring your friends and come back for repeat visits – you may spot something new – the artists will usually have additional unframed work to look through.
