Much modern music can trace its history from the Blues, which has its roots deep in the story of America. Originating among 19th century Southern plantation workers from African influences, Blues music spread north from the 1920’s Mississippi Delta and evolved into electrified Chicago Blues. Other regional Blues styles quickly developed and in 1960’s London, Blues formed the basis of the British rock scene. Today traces of the Blues can be spotted everywhere.
The Surrey Blues & Roots Society will play songs from some of the eras and genres that have built the story of the Blues.
