An exciting event for any casual or serious fans of scotch, bourbon, whiskey or cocktails.

The Whiskey Affair is back for 2017! After the huge success of its debut year, from London to Southampton via Guildford, Reading and more, they’re looking to bring their Whiskey roadshow to as many more thirsty people as possible! Following their hugely popular inaugural 2017 event in Haslemere, they’re heading back to recreate one of their most successful nights of last year, Guildford.

For those who don’t know, The Whiskey Affair is a lively and fun night out for any fans of whiskey where they can discover new brands and blends. With the event split into four sections – scotch, bourbon, whiskey and whiskey cocktails – there’s something for all levels of knowledge from beginners right through to connoisseurs.

Due to their sellout Guildford event in 2016, they’ve moved venues to provide even more space for you to sip your whiskey in comfort. They’ll be heading to The Electric Theatre, Onslow St, Guildford GU1 4SZ for two sessions; 1pm-5pm for the afternoon, and 7pm to 11pm for the evening. Tickets are £8 each and available online now at The Whiskey Affair website and through Guildford Tourist Information.

The Whiskey Affair is a simple idea: to allow people to comprehensively explore the world of whiskey against a backdrop of good music, great fun and a sense of inclusivity for any level of knowledge.
After going nationwide in 2016 they’re stepping it up another gear for 2017 and Guildford is no exception! Alongside live music and representatives from the brands, they’ve got tasting sessions, masterclasses, free samples from a number of new brands (plus last year’s returning favourites, Paul John Whiskey) and some spectacular food to either accompany your tasting or line your stomach, depending on how you intend your night to pan out… All these factors and more, mean you’re in for a great time and even friends and partners with no interest in whiskey can sample the cocktail menu and still enjoy the session. And who knows – with a variety ranging from smooth bourbons to spiced whiskies, you may even be able to change their minds…

Organiser Catherine Jackson is keen to evangelise about the whiskey possibilities and share her enthusiasm with a wide audience:

Now that we’ve had the opportunity to take our festival to so many different areas and share our love of whiskey, it’s been fantastic to see a community growing of like-minded people who share our passion for learning more about it. It’s been wonderful watching people discover a new favourite and return to the
next festival enthusiastic about sharing it with new friends or family that they are bringing to the events.
One of my favourite parts of the festivals is the free masterclasses because we’ve all learnt so much about the different facets of the whiskey world that we love so much. This is the first city that we’re returning to, and Guildford was our first sell-out as an event so we can’t wait to return and see those familiar faces – plus make some new friends along the way.”
